Living environment
From birth to their first 3 years of age, our foals live in freedom in the pasture with other animals of the same age: they spend the first years of their lives in a fantastic place where they can grow up healthy. When they are 36 months old, we start thinking about their taming. The horses are moved to their stalls, where they are housed for the rest of their stay in our farm. These are wide, ventilated, with direct visual contact with other animals. During this period, their nutrition is plentiful and natural, following the pace of their training. The excellence of our work stands in the ability to give the animal tranquility and a healthy nutrition.
Taming
During the taming period the horse is taught to be saddled and bridled. The process begins with the long rope in order to teach them the commands, to increase their level of obedience, to strengthen their muscles in preparation for horse riding with the knight and to work on various strides, such as pass, trot and little gallop as well as changes in gait rhythm. The second year is dedicated to the training of all strides. The main aim of this phase is to enhance the horse’s impetus and natural steps, to promote self-carriage, to make the horse flexible and domesticated and to gradually develop their musculature. The horse learns to shorten or lengthen their gait and to carry out lateral movements. In the third year the horse will learn to execute some of the most difficult steps such as the hand change in the half-pass, the counter-center, the flying change, the pirouette, the passage and the piaffe.
Coherence and continuity
The training course of the horse is supervised and followed personally by an expert trainer to guarantee quality in the work done. The horse is a very sensitive animal that doesn’t like surprises and prefers to build a solid and long-lasting relationship with their trainer.
Coherent genealogy
We breed at maximum level with excellent mothers and fathers. If you wish to have a look at their genealogy, you can do so in the public register of LG PRE, you’ll meet many national champions in the family of our horses as well as Olympic horses both on the mothers and fathers side.
The Stallions we chosen for reproduction are owned by Maria Fernanda de la Escalera.
Who is Javier Ruíz Garrido, Horse Trainer
Francisco Javier Ruíz Garrido graduated from the Fundación Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre, and has been a horse rider for the Domecq family in Medina Sidonia for twenty years. Together with the horse Ibn Jerez he has won the 2nd National Championship of Spanish Alta Escuela, considered to be the most difficult and diverse type of taming for recollecting the Spanish tradition. He is also the new Spanish national champion of Alta Escuela at the 2015 SICAB.

Who is Mirko Nesurini, Horse Breeder
He was listed by Time magazine as one of the leaders of the future. He’s an expert in brand strategy, founder of the Ex-Brand Institute and one of the founders of Work Style a global “think tank” focusing on the working world. He has worked with many Fortune500 companies. He wrote four books on branding tips for Hoepli. He is a member of the Art Directors Club of New York City. Mirko was and is CEO of many Italian fashion brands.
The quality of the horses
The success of the classic doma is measured in the ability to correct flaws that every animal has. Our ambition is to prepare perfectly tamed horses, therefore at best of our abilities. Only then, when Javier will say “the horse is ready”, the animal will be placed on the market. Buying a tamed horse means investing on an excellent life companion, that, in the long run, will make you proud and will improve both in the competition and free time sectors.
Disciplines
The horse tamed for dressage is used for sports in dressage, Alta Escuela and for horseback riding. We don’t train our horses in other disciplines that we don’t think are appropriate for this breed. The dressage training is to develop the horses to demonstrate the elegance of their movement and ease of use, as well as to develop the qualities of the horse through harmonious education. Dressage makes the horse calm and flexible, but also confident, attentive and bright, showing the greatest possible complicity with their rider. The training also provides a basis for all equestrian disciplines to develop the horse – rider relationship and advance the qualities of the horse as locomotion and flexibility.
Value of the horse
A horse is a luxury product. It’s the same as a Louis Vuitton bag, you can buy counterfeited products on the beach, or you can buy the original ones in a boutique. The choice is yours. From Yeguada Mirko you buy the top quality in terms of history and products.
Economics
A horse is evaluated in function of their taming level with their aesthetics as an added value. The more it is tamed, the higher the value, as higher are the satisfaction of the new owner and the post-sale guarantees. A tamed horse, rarely creates problems after, because the important subjects have been treated and the flaws corrected.

PORTRAITS of BREEDERS (the pamphlet).

During the project “Reglas y Pasión” we met many breeders who are introduced in this first work that is given back to them as a tribute. It is printed as a limited edition with 250 copies and was published in 2013 by Work Style for Sicab 2016. Reglas y Pasión is a book followed by a photographic reportage focusing on some of the most prestigious breedings of PRE (Pure Spanish Horses) of Andalucia. In time there will be the opportunity for a second edition. The project is about people who breed horses, the places where they work and the horse itself. The photographic reading key is of the observer distracted from technicality, focalized on the appeal of an ancient sector where old rules and modern passions live together.
